About this course
Course duration 6 hours
This course is designed to give domestic workers increased subject knowledge and confidence on topics that are relevant to typical work in a household.
It is not designed to replace formal school, vocational training or previously gained experience. It should add to your existing knowledge in order to help secure a job or increase your general understanding of this area.
The course consists of viewing short videos followed by a short quiz on the following subjects:
- The importance of having a positive attitude at work
- The importance of being on time
- What does Integrity mean
- Home safety
- Common kitchen accidents
- What to do if there is a fire
- Electrical safety
- First aid – primary survey
- First aid – recovery position
- First aid – How to deal with severe bleeding
- First aid – Adult Choking
- How to clean everything in your bathroom
- How clean everything in your kitchen
- 20 natural cleaning tips
- Laundry Basics
- How to Iron
- Basic nutrition
- Food safety facts
- Personal health, hygiene and grooming
Upon completion, a certificate and summary of the topics covered will be issued in your name.
Course instructions
You are required to view each video at least twice before attempting the quiz. You can only move on to the next video upon successful completion of the accompanying quiz. The pass mark is 100% – don’t worry, questions are designed to ensure you understood the video content, we are not trying to catch you out! In case you do not pass the quiz the first time, you can re-watch the video and take the quiz again. Once its passed, you can move on to the next module.
While watching each video, pay close attention and concentrate on the content. Do not let any distractions reduce your concentration level. Quiz questions will be relatively easy to answer if you have paid complete attention but difficult if you have not.
To confirm that you have actually watched the video, each quiz has some questions about the video itself, such as colour of the presenters clothing or hair. These are random and can be about anything in the video. Please watch the video fully in order to be able to answer these questions correctly, this will save you time.
Do not attempt to do the quizzes without watching the videos, read and understand the course vocabulary list before attempting the course.
While taking the quiz, it may be a good idea to open the video in a separate window so you can navigate through the video to help you answer the questions. You can jump through the video using the left and right arrow keys while it is playing.
During the course, make sure to close any advertisements that pop up by clicking the small x in the top right hand corner of the popup box.
Once completed a copy of the certificate will automatically be sent to the email address you used to register. Alternatively, you can download a copy immediately at the end of the course.
